WHAT IS INTEGRATED CIRCUITS?

Integrated circuit (IC) is a single component that replace complex network of discrete components like resistors, capacitors, diodes, transistors, etc. Most of these Integrated Circuits are made of silicon chips. 

Even though an IC replace thousands of Discrete components. There are few components that cannot be included in this IC's like Inductors. 

The IC's are mainly classified as:

i) Linear or Analog IC's
     op-amps, voltage regulators and voltage comparators

ii) Digital IC's
      logic gates, flip-flops and memory chips.

iii) Mixed signal IC's
      IC's used for signal processing, involves both analog and digital signal processing.
