Basic Rules for PCB Designing
There are some common mistakes people do while starting PCB design if they are self learner. this is due to lack of knowledge in rules and standards. not only in PCB designing when you learn something without the guidance of experienced person in the field. you should concentrate more on standards. It will help you get professional and quality outputs within short period.
When we are learning PCB designing there are some set of rules you need to follow to avoid malfunctions and to get a professional look for your PCB board.
Rules:
1. Avoid 90 Degree turn at any ends.
Wrong
Right way to make a turn
2. Tracks, Pads should not overlap one another.
3. Current flow is very much similar to water flow. so use larger width tracks for main lines. (For ex: Vcc, Gnd), If you see water pipeline layout. larger pipe are used for main lines to carry enough water to all subordinate pipes.
4. Draw outline of the board first.(if you want a output board in size 50mm*50mm. first draw a outline of 50mm*50mm and try to fix all components within the outline.)
5. Try to complete the design with minimum number of layers. keeping the board size as small as possible and using minimum number of layers are two main factors for efficient PCB designing.
